The cedar wood are " toast finished", a technique used by the Japanese for hundreds of years to carbonized the lumber exterior to further delay the decay of the lumber. The wood is polished to give you a natural antique color tone.

We use bamboo in constructing the lattice of the trellis and the wall panels. The bamboo used are heat treated and air dried to prevent the cracking and rot in outdoor environments.
